My 9 yo son and I are looking for an easy acess site for colecting interesting rocks or fossils some where between Santa Fe and Albequerque. Any thoughts would be great

I’m not sure between Santa Fe and Albequerque but If you’re willing to drive a bit and plan a stay for a day or two, I use to live in Aztec, NM. This little town just east of Farmington, hasn’t changed much and has an actual ancient indian ruin that is worth taking a trip to see. Access to the Animas River is no problem, and All the comforts of the big city await you in Farmington. Also if your up for some adventure, try a little town south of Flafstaff, Az called Sedona. Wonderful rock formations in what is known as the Red Rock Canyon area of AZ.
Happy rock hounding
