Santa Fe Stops
hymiehymie asked:
A three-minute demonstration of why Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA is so special — as illustrated by stop sign traffic “stops” in a one-hour period! This was taped in connection with a book called “The New Mexico Drivers’ Survival Guide,” currently out of print. The stop sign has been changed to a yield sign. For all Jim Terr videos, enter HYMIEHYMIE in search window, and see more Santa Fe stuff at www.SantaFeShorts.com. Music from this fine CD - buy it! http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/1107676/a/Living+In+The+U.S.A..htm

Man, that’s an UNDERSTATEMENT!

Jim, its Aneesh. I enjoyed this video. It shows what an understatement it is to drive in NM. LOL

Stop Signs are just a mere suggestion in SF, also when you buy a car, the turn signals are optional! LOL!
hymiehymie @ 7:12 pm
God bless you.

Should put a camera on any of those stupid stop signs on Zia Rd, i know i never make a full stop goin thru there lol
amanda4utube @ 5:35 pm
Yep, that’s what it’s like in Santa Fe. Not just at that stop either. Red-lights should always be approached with caution because people here will just blow right through them…

Give us a break, man! This was 1999, before “W” Bush had a chance to restore this country to happiness and economic prosperity, with a BMW in every garage!
baciuk25 @ 5:43 am
is that usa or mexico? wow… what cheap cars u have… are u so poor? oh my God… I`m from Romania, the poorest country from Europe, and you see a lot of mercedes and bmw and allmost all the cars are newer than 2003… i mean is that usa or mexico?
theofrastvs @ 1:37 pm
You could get a similar video from Avenidas Torreon and Eldorado in, uh, Eldorado, and it’s a 4-way stop.
Latiodude2 @ 5:31 am
wow i live in sf and i never noticed.
mkypda914 @ 3:14 am
I think the reason why is that it used to be a yield rather than a stop.
Dudeman463 @ 4:40 pm
well it really should be a yield sign….its more of a merge…if you have driven on gallisteo, you probably ran it…lol
SIMIHIGH2008 @ 5:31 am
and i thought the california roll was bad
AFFINTY @ 3:22 pm
Some of them actually put their breaks on and slowed down! I lived in SF for my 1st 29 years and never noticed…I probably never slowed at all - it’s basically downtown where anything goes…
jackal4252 @ 12:23 am
This puts “California” stops to shame. I lived in Santa Fe for 20 years and I never noticed. Hell, I know exactly where that intersection and I am probably guilty myself. Interesting.
djm86 @ 6:24 am
hahahaha got to love the 1,2,3 stop…typical New Mexico thing to do.
DemonicWolfie @ 6:55 am
I must admit I never stopped for that either.
bladerunner2358 @ 5:17 am
gotta love it! living a santa fe you have to become a good defensive driver in order to drive with all these kooks!
chickengeorge1236 @ 5:27 am

DisasterYesDisaster @ 1:50 pm

ScarecrowsGnome @ 12:15 am
Hahahaha I live a couple blocks away from that stop sign. Drivers here are completely insane.
wsbabyballer13 @ 7:31 am

driflaver @ 9:34 pm
Et les flics ils marquent ce stop ?
And Police car make a stop ?
Inhumanheartbeat @ 9:44 pm
Funny stuff. I worked security in Santa Fe for about four years while I lived there. Crazy drivers. No one ever used a blinker, either.
