Albuquerque, Santa Fe or Las Cruces?

santa fe new mexico
LBgirl asked:

I was born and raised in LA County, CA. I am looking to start a new life. Where is it better to live in New Mexico in terms of jobs, singles, cost of living, housing and slower paced lifestyle?

If you are from LA and you are looking for a slower pace of life, nearly any other city in the United States should satisfy that need. That being said, both Santa Fe is a slower paced lifestyle than as Cruces, and a much slower paced liefstyle than Albuquerque. Cost of living is lowest in Cruces, and highest in Santa Fe. In fact, Santa Fe has the highest city minimum wage in the country. $9.50 right now, scheduled to go up to $10.50 next january 1.

New Mexico is actually one of the best places in the country for jobs, especially in the business and technology sectors. Forbes listed Albuquerque as the best city in America to do business in last year. For singles, Albuquerque will be your best bet, also we are exceptionally diverse here. In fact, the last census ranked New Mexico as a whole as the most racially diverse state in the entire US.

In terms of finding a partner, that shouldn’t be any problem, but once again, don’t expect the booming scene that you might find in California.

I am not a native, but my wife is. Good luck.
