Faith C asked:
I’m going to New Mexico this weekend, and I have never been there before. I will be in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Ruidoso. Any suggestions on where to eat?

There is a NEW MEXICO?
I here the Taco Bell’s are really good there…since they’re so close to Mexico…
leave as quick as you can.
Take lots of film. Always carry bottled water with you & keep a sweater handy. Although it can be hot in the day, once the sun goes down it can get chilly. The heat is dry though & you’ll dehydrate before you realize it, so keep drinking water. Also take a hat with a brim & some sun block lotion if you’ll be outdoors a lot. My suggestions on where to eat would be any of the little mom & pop joints that you find. Most are very good, but watch out….the green chili they usually serve is HOT.
Have fun & check out the local museums, digs, and crafts.
this site contains reviews of restaurants people have dined at.
Nana’s Italian Ristorante and Pizzeria - Albuquerque, NM
The Pink Adobe - A Santa Fe tradition since 1944.
Can’t Stop Smokin’ – Smokehouse Bar-B-Q Ruidoso, NM
If you’ve never been to New Mexico you must try some New Mexican food (note: it’s not Mexican). Enchiladas and burritos can be found everywhere, and if you’re not used to spicy food get the chile on the side. (When the server asks you “Red or Green?” they are asking what kind of chile you want. You should try both eventually, but not together unless you have a stomach of iron.)
Some good places in Albuquerque for New Mexican food tourists: Los Cuates, El Pinto, El Patio, Garcias -
In Santa Fe you’ll probably want to stay in the downtown/plaza area, and almost anyplace there has decent eats. Look for Plaza Diner, Tia Sophias, Guadalupe Cafe, Blue Corn,…
PS… Don’t eat at Taco Bell, that would be like going to China and eating at Panda Express.

Sadies Cocinita (6230 Fourth St NW)
In Santa Fe:
La Choza (905 Alarid St)
In Ruidoso:
