I’ve thought about moving to the Santa Fe or Taos, NM area for years and I’m planning to spend two or three months there exploring the area because it’s been many years since my last visit. I’ve checked craigslist New Mexico and that’s promising for both job & housing leads, but I’m wondering if anybody has other suggestions?

I like Santa Fe as a city but the city is dependant on tourism. I also like a rural setting…land with a house near a really nice smaller town. Is there a smaller town in NM that is very much like Santa Fe?
